Covet is a Normal-type move with 60 power and 100% accuracy. When used, this move not only deals damage but also has the added effect of stealing the target's held item, provided the user is not already holding an item and the target is holding an item that can be stolen. Covet is particularly useful in battles where item manipulation can give a strategic advantage, and it can also be employed in wild Pokémon encounters to obtain rare items. Introduced in Generation III, Covet has become a valuable move for trainers looking to gain an edge through item theft.
Inflicts regular damage. If the target is holding an item and the user is not, the user will permanently take the item. Damage is still inflicted if an item cannot be taken. Pokémon with sticky hold or multitype are immune to the item theft effect. The target cannot recover its item with recycle. This move cannot be selected by assist or metronome.
