Yawn is a Normal-type status move with no direct power and 100% accuracy. When used, it causes the target to become drowsy. If the target remains in battle, it will fall asleep at the end of the next turn. Yawn can be strategically employed to disrupt opponents by forcing them to switch out their Pokémon to avoid sleep or to incapacitate them temporarily. It is not blockable by moves such as Protect and Detect, making it a dependable option to induce sleep, which can provide a tactical advantage in both casual and competitive battles. Yawn does not affect targets with the Insomnia or Vital Spirit abilities, nor does it work on Pokémon already affected by sleep, safeguarded by Safeguard, or protected by Misty Terrain.
