Intimidate
Intimidate is an ability in the Pokémon series that primarily affects the opponent's Attack stat. When a Pokémon with Intimidate enters the battlefield, it causes all opposing Pokémon's Attack stats to decrease by one stage. This effect can significantly weaken physical attackers, providing a tactical advantage in battles by reducing the damage output from physical moves.
Effects:
- Immediate Attack Reduction: Upon switching in, Intimidate cuts the opposing Pokémon's Attack stat by one stage. This reduction occurs for each opposing Pokémon, making it especially useful in double or multi-battles.
- Stacking: If multiple Pokémon with Intimidate switch in consecutively, the reductions can stack, further decreasing the opponent's Attack stat.
- Synergy with Physical Defense: It pairs well with Pokémon that are already physically bulky, allowing them to take even less damage from physical attacks.
- Triggering at Every Switch: Every time a Pokémon with Intimidate
Effects
- When this Pokémon enters battle, the opponent's Attack is lowered by one stage. In a double battle, both opponents are affected. This ability also takes effect when acquired during a battle, but will not take effect again if lost and reobtained without leaving battle. This ability has no effect on an opponent that has a substitute. Overworld: If the first Pokémon in the party has this ability, any random encounter with a Pokémon five or more levels lower than it has a 50% chance of being skipped.
