Zap Plate is a held item introduced in the fourth generation of Pokémon games (Pokémon Diamond and Pearl). Its primary effect is to boost the power of Electric-type moves by 20% when held by a Pokémon. This enhancement makes it a valuable asset for Electric-type Pokémon or any Pokémon with powerful Electric-type attacks, allowing them to deal more significant damage to their opponents.
In addition to its battle utility, the Zap Plate has a deeper lore significance tied to the Legendary Pokémon Arceus. The item is one of the 16 Plates associated with Arceus, which change its type depending on which Plate it holds. When Arceus holds the Zap Plate, its type becomes Electric, allowing it to use the move Judgment as an Electric-type attack. This type-changing ability provides Arceus with tremendous versatility in battle.
