Tr40

TR40 is a Technical Record (TR) in Pokémon Sword and Shield that teaches the move "Skill Swap" to compatible Pokémon. This move allows the user to exchange abilities with the target, which can be strategically advantageous in numerous battle scenarios. For example, it can be used to nullify a foe’s beneficial ability while bestowing it upon the user or one of the user’s allies.

Skill Swap is particularly useful in double battles and can be central to many competitive strategies. For example, it can be used to give a Pokémon an ability it wouldn't normally have access to, such as swapping a partner Pokémon's less favorable ability with a more advantageous one. Notably, Skill Swap does not work on Pokémon with abilities like Zen Mode or Multitype, as these abilities are tied to specific forms or items, respectively.
