Summary

TM94 (Rock Smash) is a Technical Machine in the Pokémon series that teaches the move Rock Smash to compatible Pokémon. Rock Smash is a Fighting-type move that deals damage and has a 50% chance to lower the target's Defense stat by one stage. Although its base power is relatively low at 40, it was increased to 60 starting from Generation VI.

In earlier generations, TM94 held different moves before being permanently assigned Rock Smash starting from Generation IV: - In Generation III, TM94 was the move Secret Power. - In Generation IV and beyond, TM94 consistently became Rock Smash.

Rock Smash also has utility outside of battles. When used in the overworld in Generations II through VII, it can break certain rocks that block paths in many regions, often revealing items or wild Pokémon encounters. This utility makes Rock Smash a necessary HM (Hidden Machine) move during the main storyline, though it later reverted back to a TM as HMs were phased out.
