TM183 (Toxic Spikes) is a Technical Machine in the Pokémon series that teaches the move "Toxic Spikes" to eligible Pokémon. When Toxic Spikes is used in battle, it lays a layer of toxic spikes on the opponent's side of the field. These spikes poison opposing Pokémon that switch into battle. If two layers of Toxic Spikes are set, the poison becomes more severe, causing badly poisoned status rather than just being poisoned.

Effects: - Single Layer: Causes the poison status effect for any opposing Pokémon that switches in. - Double Layers: Causes the badly poisoned status effect, which does progressive damage increasing each turn. - Toxic Spikes do not affect Flying-type Pokémon or those with the Levitate ability. Steel-types and Poison-types are also unaffected, with the latter type removing Toxic Spikes from the field when switching in.
