Soot Sack

Soot Sack is a key item in Pokémon games that allows the player to collect volcanic ash. Primarily found in the Hoenn region, it’s introduced in Pokémon Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald. The player can use the Soot Sack to gather ash by walking through ash-covered grass on Route 113 or Route 111. As the player collects ash, the Soot Sack gradually fills up.

Once enough ash has been collected, it can be exchanged for various items by speaking to the Glass Workshop artisan on Route 113. These items are crafted from volcanic ash and include several types of flutes, such as the Blue Flute (which awakens a sleeping Pokémon) and the Yellow Flute (which snaps a Pokémon out of confusion). Additionally, players can acquire furniture for their Secret Base, further incentivizing ash collection.
