Poke-Radar is a key item introduced in Pokémon Diamond and Pearl that allows players to locate and chain specific wild Pokémon in tall grass. When used, the Poke-Radar creates patches of shaking grass, indicating where hidden Pokémon are located. The device can only be activated in normal grass patches, and it requires recharging after each use by walking a specific number of steps.
Effects: 1. Encounter Shaking Grass: When activated, the Poke-Radar makes certain patches of grass shake, where wild Pokémon can be found. 2. Chaining: By encountering Pokémon from shaking grass and continually finding the same species, players can create a chain, increasing the likelihood of encountering Pokémon with higher IVs and Hidden Abilities. A higher chain also significantly increases the chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon. 3. Shiny Grass: With an established chain, there’s a chance for patches of grass to sparkle, indicating a Shiny Pokémon is present.
Designates several nearby patches of grass as containing Pokémon, some of which may be special radar-only Pokémon. Successive uses in a certain way create chains of encounters with the same species; longer chains increase the chance that a shiny Pokémon of that species will appear.
Short Effect: Use to track down rare or shiny Pokémon. 50 steps to recharge.
