Ice Gem

Ice Gem is a single-use item introduced in Generation V of the Pokémon series. When held by a Pokémon, the Ice Gem boosts the power of the first Ice-type move the holder uses by 50%, increasing its effectiveness in delivering a powerful attack. Once the Ice-type move is executed, the Ice Gem is consumed and disappears from the holder's inventory.

This item is particularly useful in the competitive scene for Pokémon that rely on high-damage burst attacks, such as Weavile or Mamoswine. By enhancing an Ice-type move, the holder is more likely to knock out opponents that are weak to Ice, such as Dragon, Flying, Grass, and Ground-types.

In Generation VI and beyond, the Ice Gem became less impactful due to the introduction of Z-Crystals which provide more versatile and reusable options for boosting moves. Despite this, the Ice Gem still has a niche in some strategies that involve maximizing the potential of powerful attacks in a single turn.
