Dark Gem

Dark-Gem is a consumable held item in the Pokémon series that grants a one-time power enhancement to a Dark-type move. When the Pokémon carrying the Dark-Gem deploys a Dark-type move, the Gem is used up, culminating in an increase of the move's power by 1.3 times (a 30% boost). This effect permits Pokémon to inflict significant damage under critical situations, frequently causing a surprise to opponents who normally wouldn't anticipate such a sudden power spike.

The Dark-Gem can prove to be particularly handy in competitive play, enabling strategists to enhance the impact of pivotal moves. It is often held by Pokémon that use powerful Dark-type moves, such as Knock Off, Crunch, or Pursuit, offering an advantage during combat. This item proves especially beneficial in gaming formats where items hold a single-time usage limitation, or for Pokémon that depend on one potent attack to accomplish particular objectives, like eliminating high-value targets or breaking through formidable defenses.

Introduced in Generation V, the Dark-Gem, along with other type-specific Gems, became widely accessible, thus adding a new strategic element to Pokémon battles.
