Grassy Seed

grassy-seed Sprite

Summary

Grassy Seed is a held item in Pokémon that activates under specific terrain conditions. When a Pokémon holding a Grassy Seed enters battle and the battlefield's terrain becomes Grassy Terrain, either through a move like Grassy Terrain or the ability Grassy Surge, the Grassy Seed is consumed to boost the holder's Defense by one stage. This one-time use item provides strategic advantages, particularly for defensive or wall-type Pokémon that benefit from the additional resilience.

Grassy Terrain itself, activated for five turns, offers several advantages: it heals all Pokémon on the ground by 1/16th of their maximum HP at the end of each turn, halves the damage taken from Earthquake, Bulldoze, and Magnitude, and boosts the power of Grass-type moves by 50%. This terrain synergizes well with Grassy Seed by providing continuous healing and boosting defensive capabilities.

The item’s utility is often seen in conjunction with Pokémon such as Rillaboom, which has the Grassy Surge ability
